There are things that cannot be seen from inside a single company. The planning-oriented talent development committee proposed in the JASA Reform Report now operates as the x-Middle WG under JASA’s Kanto Branch. Eleven participants from nine member companies — department and section managers in their late thirties and forties — meet face to face every two months, setting both the themes and the way the group is run. The direction declared at its kickoff was a shift from “training” to a place that keeps prompting insight. What ranked highest among their interests was not technology, but business and the management of their own companies. This session reports on the first year’s activities, along with the coming year’s agenda: making the group’s work visible, and shaping it so that more member companies can take part.
